SSAAP is a basic human needs program: clean water, access to food, education, and basic health care are our initiatives alongside survival of a basic cultural need: Art. Without art, culture, and traditions, the fabric of a heritage slowly disappears.

Zambia

SSAAP is honored to work with master craftsmen and women of the Mosi-oa-Tunya area of Victoria Falls, Zambia (Mukuni Chiefdom) to employ artisans from various socio-economic and educational backgrounds to continue the indigenous traditions of the area through bold, brilliant and bright art works made of wood, cloth, stone, and sand.

SSAAP works with local artisans throughout the entirety of the nation to paint, weave, bead, sew, and cultivate a living through one of the most ancient roots of their culture: traditional arts and crafts.

Hair sticks made of porcupine quills.

Baskets woven from the stalks of palm trees.

Masks adorned with beads, shells, and raffia.

Batik dresses, shawls, suits, and headpieces; beaded jewelry and carved statues all are produced through SSAAP’s Craftsmen and Women’s Program.
